Great Silk Trails
Boutique tours along the Silk Road with local guides and small groups.

Reviving the Silk Road — for real
Silk Caravan was born in 2013 out of an expedition by three friends along the Khiva — Bukhara — Samarkand route. Today it's a team of 18 guides and coordinators across eight countries, leading over 600 travelers every year along the same trails once walked by caravans carrying silk, lapis lazuli and spices.
We don't shuttle you "from sight to sight." We tell stories, introduce you to people and show the Silk Road the way merchants and pilgrims saw it a thousand years ago.
Deep immersion
Not tourist clichés, but real encounters — with carpet masters, nomads and keepers of the mosques.
Expert guides
Historians, archaeologists and art historians in love with the region. Not scripted text, but dialogue.
Local economy
We work with family guesthouses and workshops. Your money stays in the region.
The Silk Road, with no surprises
Twelve years ago we realized: a journey along this route takes not a ticket, but a guide. So we became one.
Safety first
Every route is risk-assessed, guides are certified, a coordinator is on call 24/7 and insurance is included in the packages.
Small groups
From 6 to 14 people. No 50-seat buses — just living dialogue and attention to every traveler.
Original routes
We drive every kilometer ourselves before launching a tour. Unusual stops, secret viewpoints and local masters.
Expert enthusiast guides
Historians, ethnographers and photographers. They don't read Wikipedia — they share what they learned on expeditions.
Honest pricing
Everything is in the package — transfers, accommodation, tickets, guides and most dinners. No hidden extras on the ground.
24/7 support
A personal coordinator for your whole tour. Flight delayed, luggage lost — we handle it while you sip tea.
Stories from those who walked the road
"Samarkand exceeded all expectations. Our guide told legends that gave us goosebumps. Organization was top-notch — from transfers to open-air dinners."
"I did the entire Greater Turkestan route in 14 days. The most powerful journey of my life. The Darvaza Crater at night is simply otherworldly."
"Persia opened up to me in a completely different way — not as in textbooks, but alive, warm and poetic. I will remember Naqsh-e Jahan Square at sunset forever."
"A night in a yurt on Son-Kul was like going back to childhood. Stars, horses, beshbarmak by the fire. Thank you to the team for such sincerity."
"Kashgar bazaar is overwhelming in the best way. Our guide made us feel at home with Uyghur families. The Silk Road is truly alive here."
"I took my wife and teenage daughter on Steppe Nomads. The girls still talk about the eagle hunters. Professional and done with heart."
